Tandem Court Doubles
4 plays Published Oct 4, 2026 Version 2
Share service and net coverage in original doubles tennis: solo with bots, two or four local humans, or exactly four online players.
Four fixed people, two doubles teams, one complete compact set. Cover the net, target the open side and alternate service between both teammates. A serve must land diagonally in the service box; only the designated receiver may return it after a bounce. Later either partner can volley and the doubles alleys are in play. Flat shots and topspin change the flight and rebound.
First to four games wins, no-ad scoring at 40:40, and a 3:3 tie-break to seven with two clear points, capped at eleven. Two service faults lose the point, let repeats are bounded, and twelve seconds without a serve forfeits it. Fifteen minutes ends in a draw. Fixed court sides and a short set are explicit arcade rules.
Solo controls Blue1 with three labeled bots. Local2 gives one human per team plus a bot partner, with independent keyboard or touch docks. Local4 uses four disjoint key groups on a shared external keyboard; rollover depends on hardware. Online requires exactly four signed-in humans, two fixed roles per team, without bot seat filling. Practice ends after twelve points and counts actual Blue1 returns and target hits.
Aim and power sliders preview landing; a separate release prepares the stroke. Controls sit outside the court, resolution follows the usable display and actor size remains bounded on large monitors. Landscape is recommended; portrait works. English and Brazilian Portuguese help, original synthesized music and hit/bounce/score sounds, mute, solo/local pause and rematch.
Online uses the PixelJS relay with client-host authority. Results are casual and unverified; winners tie first and losers tie third. All four acknowledge the terminal score. Losing a connection or hiding the game ends the session. No reconnection or host migration.
How to play
Move with WASD; solo/online also accept arrows. Press Space / left click to prepare a stroke; Q / Shift / right click toggles topspin. Aim: mouse or Z/C; power: 1/2; E remains a spin alias. Mouse actions are solo/online only. Local Blue1: WASD, Space, Q/Shift; Blue2: IJKL, U, O; Coral1: arrows, comma, period; Coral2: TFGH, R, Y. Every local person has independent native aim/power sliders. Local2 supports two separate touch docks; local4 requires an external keyboard. Touch strokes release inside the button and cancel safely. Escape closes Help first, then pauses/resumes solo/local; M mutes. Online requires exactly 4 humans and Help continues play. Landscape preferred; portrait supported.
